Gangster Squad Rant

My friend and I, were discussing about the Chinatown Sequence versus the original Theater Shootout, which one was better. In all honesty I was pissed that they edited the entire scene and replace it with a inferior one. The Chinatown sequence was okay, but it did not deliver the impact it needed for the audience to see what the “War for the soul of Los Angeles ” has become. A ruthless war with a blurred line of what is right or wrong, with the Gangster Squad trying to uphold her honor, theater shootout would have accomplished that. Instead we were left with the Chinatown scene was a hot mess delivering no major impact to the story, but “oh poor bystanders.” Conclusion, Ruben Fleischer should have made the brave decision to not alter his movie, despite the Aurora incident. Aldo that scene would have been a memorable.
